Elementalist/Necromancer or Mesmer.
Question to those who are experienced:
Which mix of classes has proven to be the most efficient in Guild Wars? Elementalist Necromancer? Or Elementalist Mesmer. Also: Which two of the four elements of an elementalist appear to complement each other the best? -Thanks |

I started with Elem/Nec but changed when i got to the dessert as i wasnt using anywhere near enough of the Nec Skills. Just for ref the skills i was using were Life Siphon and Well of Blood, both blood magic skills.
Since i changed to Messmer secondary i'm using 4 Element Skills and 4 Messmer skills (domination magic). As to which elements compliment each other, i really think that this is irrelevant. Its probably widely accepted now that you stack all your attribute points on 3 attributes so for an E/M build you want as many points on an element you like (fire or earth etc), then as many points on Energy storage as poss and then the rest on your secondary professions attribute of choice (in my case above this is domination magic). So putting any skill points on two element attributes really isnt worth it. To decide which element you want to choose its all about what role you want to play in your team. The two damage factories are Fire and Air, the two more defense or support orientated are earth and water. I choose fire personally but i have heard many say they like air for its armour penetration. It really is up to you! Hope this helps |

No offense, but I'm growing a bit tired of all the people asking "What's the best class combination?" or "What's the best build?"
Think about it for a second: If one class/build was obviously superior to all others, would we still be seeing the wide variation being used on servers, even in areas frequented mostly by higher level players? If one class/build was obviously superior to all others, wouldn't ALL experienced players be using it? Having said that ... even popularity isn't proof that a certain class combination is superior. For example "Paladin" (W/Mo), which is probably the most popular combination, isn't necessarily the most powerful. It's more that it's easy to learn for beginners and a good allround combo all through the game. Other classes are much harder to master, but more powerful when used right. ANet did quite a good job at balancing the professions such that each has their pro's and con's. Just pick one that suits your preferred playing style the most. Experiment. Create character and test it. If you dislike it, delete it and create a new one. The character you create first won't be your last one, for sure. |

I agree that no class combination is "superior", but some are better suited to certain playstyles than others. I've found E/N to be very effective for soloing, but I go E/Mo when grouping. And E/Me could be brutal in PvP.

I started out as a E/me but just changed to E/Mo as I was'nt useing any mez skills and haveing the rez skill is so much better than a signet. I finished the game as an E/Me

Simply saying mix of class isn't enough. For an E/x, the exact combination of attributes can totally redefine the way the character works. An E/Me using Water/Domination could harass and shut down both warriors and casters. An E/Me using Air and Inspiration is an highly sustainable spike damage dealer. I've recently started a E/N Fire/Blood AoE damage dealer/self-healer who will probably become a Water/Curses utility mage later in the game.
Tell us why you want an E/x; tell us what you want to do with it; then we'll tell you what's best. |
